Why I believe in Sand Batteries
Why I believe in Sand Batteries

Solar panels
Current low prices allows for anyone to produce their energy needs.

Electricity Grid Surplus
During sunnier months grid payback to home producers is exponentially low.

Lithium Batteries Price
Lithium battery prices have stabilized, and there are no imminent technological revolutions. Prices will remain high.

Eu and US subsidies
Governments are giving tax incentives for purchase of zero-carbon solutions.

Gas supply chain
There are multiple issues with natural gas supply chain.
Low gas prices are in the past.

Green Community
Changing the future requires investment from all of us. Time to start!
Recomended Devices
Pricing
With an predicted average ROI of 8 years, the offering seems unrivaled in terms of both price and performance. After 8 years home heating is free.
B2C First-to-Market
The first seasonal thermal “heat battery” for consumers that we can actually afford.
B2B First-to-Market
The first seasonal thermal “heat battery” that solar panel installers and resellers can upsell to their current list of clients.
Youtube presence
YouTube has generated consumer interest even before its launch. Partnering influencers and customer feedback will allow them to continue developing and improving their product.
After a brief video call with the team behind Batsand what I think about them:
1. Amazing human values.
They are committed to a set of human values that aim to improve people’s lives. Envision a world where everyone, regardless of their socio-economic status, can live a life free of governmental bad energy decisions, and financial constraints.
I like their sense of inclusivity. They are dedicated to designing a system that is financially within reach for everyone, not just a privileged few.
Despite the challenges that come their way, they seem to be focused in their mission. They were able to reduce the cost of the system by 70% since they started.
They were also transparent in their operations. More then 5 times they told me "thats not possible" or "for that there are better solution out there then ours". Usually im more used to hear "we are the best", "our product is the best" and so on. They were actually candid that they are looking only to do 1 thing well '- Make households heating independent.
They are also not afraid to think outside the box and challenge the status quo. Going DIY doesn't make them attractive to investors, but they dont seem to care. They are here to help people and not to look sexy for investors. And I personally think customers will have a word to say and they will have a Tesla moment. That when Tesla was being pushed to bankrupcy, consumers jumped in and bought the product. I think here is going to be the same.
2. Common mission as me.
Batsand and I share a common mission: the decarbonization of the planet and a reliance on green energies. This aligns seamlessly with my mission to promote green energy and reduce carbon emissions.
Batsand’s mission to harness renewable energy sources mirrors my own, capturing excess energy from renewable sources and aligning with my goal to promote the use of green energy and a world where every home can efficiently store and manage its energy needs making it more sustainable. I like it.
3. Team knows what they are doing.
As I reflect on my interactions with the Batsand team, I was impressed by their technical knowledge. Each member brings expertise to the table, with multiple PhDs among them. Yet, what strikes me most is their humility. Despite the credentials, their approach to research with a sense of curiosity was cool to see.
This humility, combined with their technical skills, makes them a force in the field of renewable energy. I love that their work is not just about "green washing", but about contributing to a larger mission: the decarbonization of our planet. It was a honor to having a chat with them and having the motivation to start this website dedicated to amazing solutions that can improve the life of us all.
Polar Night Energy
Pricing
With a price of 500 000 USD for a 10MWH the ROI really depends on the usage.
B2G First-to-Market
The first seasonal thermal “heat battery” for for goverments to benifit from surplus in the public grids.
Youtube presence
They are everywhere. If you search sand battery its mostly their solution appearing. It will be a pleasure to see them transforming city heating systems to a more sustanaible solution.

We are trying to get in touch with Polar Night Energy but they dont reply to emails. If someone knows a way to reach out to them drop me a message.

Lithium VS Sand Batteries
An average a home with Solar Panels needs to store 10 MWH of energy for grid independence
An average a home with Solar Panels needs to store 10 MWH of energy for grid independence

10 MWH
Lithium Battery
3 500 000 USD
(plus installation)
10 MWH
Batsand Battery (TES)
20 000 USD
(Including installation)
Lithium batteries will never have the price/value to disrupt the home energy market.
Batsand is 99% cheaper than a Lithium battery and covers 80% of household energy needs.
What I as a consumer want/need
Zero carbon solution
People as me, and businesses are actively decreasing their carbon footprint by investing in new technologies. We want and need this technologies to prevail.
Easy maintenance
Preferentially equipment made of industrial grade components and easily substituted. Not typical devices that brake down after 3-4 years
ROI 8-10 years
Return on investment of 8 to 10 years. Right now only Solar PV have this characteristics. Lithium batteries have too big fail rates and carry a very high price. New systems as sand batteries need to come to market.
Added value
Sustainability carries a higher home valuation price. I want a system that can benefit my home valuation.
Energy independence
I want to be free from country governance. I dont want to be submitted to bad politics and passive corruption from lobbies of energy companies.
